Whats the best way to really repair damaged hair without cutting it off?

I love my long hair and it doesnt grow back quickly. But my hair is just very damage prone. Everyone keeps telling me to trim it.Whats the best way to really repair damaged hair without cutting it off?
trimming it is the right thing to do... split ends will continue to get drier and the split will actually travel UP the hair shaft...

once it is damaged there is no repair... give it a break from washing daily and using heat appliances (especially flat irons)

remember, once hair has grown through scalp it is dead ( the only living part is inside of the body called the root)

it is not like skin and cannot regenerate... you can use moisturizing packs to help it but there is no way to heal damage... products that claim to do so are only applying a barrier to hair shaft to give the illusion of health and smooth cuticle ( scale-like outer layer of the hair )

avoid volumizing products... some actually rough up cuticle to make hair fuller

sorryWhats the best way to really repair damaged hair without cutting it off?
trim/ hot oil. it works!
Use Loreal Mega Miosture. You can buy this at Sally Beauty Supply. You may still have to trim the ends a little depending how much it is damaged.
Your going to have to trim it, you can't have healthly hair with damaged ends. After that you will need to keep you hair conditioned, use hot oil treatments, and have a deep conditioning done at least twice a month.
there is this wonderful product that you can get at a beauty supply store called cholesterol. you goop it on your wet hair and wrap it in a towel and leave it on for 1/2 hour then you rinse it out with warm water. you do this ever other day for the first week and then once a week after that for 4 weeks and you will see a wonderful difference in your hair.

I got a bad perm and it help to make my hair better after that.

Good luck!
You have to trim the dead or split ends otherwise the split ends will split right up the shaft. Use a good conditional to keep hair soft and prevents drying which causes breakage, damage and split ends.
There are special shampoo's that act as sealant for split ends also I would recommend trying hot oil treatments which can seriously revitalize damaged hair.
depends what kind of damage it is.. but yes trimming it would be a good place to start.
First to get rid of the split ends, it will be necessary to have a trim. 1/2 an inch to start. Then after washing your hair, you will need a protein pac deep conditioner, a shower cap/plastic bag. Then if you are not near a sauna(where you can stay in for 20 + min) a hot towel wrapped to wrap over the shower cap once you applied the conditioner and put the cap on. Leave it on of 20 minutes. Rinse and apple regular conditioner for 2 to 5 minutes, rinse and set. No blow drying but air dry hair. Do that at least 2 x a month. Trim at least every 3 months.
go get a hot oil treatment once a month. then deep condition your hair at home once or twice a week.
umm.... try to actually wash it 4 once!
Rubbing and masaging your hair with olive oil regularly for a week or tow would get any problem of your hair solved.
I find giving it a good go over with a treatment conditioner 1 to 2 times a week does wonders for my hair and makes it feel great.
