I have really, annoying poofy hair that i straighten every day. But my ends are dead and my hair is brittle. I use strength and repair shampoo and conditioner, and i spray my hair with iron protection everytime i straighten it. It just doesn't seem to work.. Any suggestions? What is the best way to treat damaged hair?
no shampoo and conditioner will repair split ends...many shampoos, even the ones that are supposed to be good for your hair have drying, damaging sulfates in them that strip your hair of its natural moisure. i would try switching to a sulfate free, organic shampoo. i personally like desert essence organics, they come in amazing scents, are only $5, and they are so gentle to your hair and scalp. i dye my hair all the time and my hair has never felt healthier since i started using organic shampoo and conditioner. hope this helps :-)
vitacost.com has desert essence at super prices if you are interested...thats where i order mine from! What is the best way to treat damaged hair?
Nothing will repair straight ends except for cutting them off, but to prevent and repair what you can;definitley get a reconstructing shampoo and conditiner or a reconstrucing treament. Most anything with a Keratin Complex in it will have you seeing results very fast. Keratin is a protein found in the actual hair. More Keratin is found in naturally straight hair than curly/damaged. It will basically rebuild your hair from the inside out.
Joico has a really good reconstructing like called K-pak. Try and stay away from hairspray and shampoo or styling products with alcohol in them. The ones to really look out for are Alcohol Denat and Alcohol SD.
Heres a website that sells Joico

But you can find it at most Proffesional Salons, like Ulta, Beauty Brands, Trade Secret, RDA etc.

I'd recommend getting your hair cut a little to remove all the dead/split ends. Whenever you straighten it always use something to protect it.
If your hair seems to be really frizzy, don't shampoo it every day, depending on your hair type it might be best to shampoo it only once or twice a week. But make sure you condition it every day.
The best thing to do would be to talk to your stylist. she'll be able to give you some products/tips for helping your hair. My hair is just like yours, but talking to a professional really helped.
well first off, cut the split ends off, and maybe when you get a chance, stop straightening it for like a week and see what that does for it. then use l'oreal shampoo, the right kind for your hair (it will say on the bottle) and if that doesnt help, go see a professional stylist (not the ones at great clips, like a real one) then see what they have to say.
have a hair cut... i mean, try have the split ends removed... then try using coconut oil, kind of like a hot oil... it get rids of dandruff and keeps hair black and smooth...
use plenty of fishoil, eat some greenerys
