What is the best products for damaged hair caused by a flat iron?

Ok so here's the scoop, I had started straighting my hair for a new cut, but now about three or four weeks later my hair is ';dead'; and that's not exagerating. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly apreciate it.What is the best products for damaged hair caused by a flat iron?
Once your hair grows out of the scalp, it is already dead. Your hair may be damaged. If it is completely damaged and fried, there is nothing you can do to restore the hair. You can do protein treatments to help it while it grows out.What is the best products for damaged hair caused by a flat iron?
Well, your hair after the root is actually ';dead'; before any treatments or styling either way.

There is no way to reverse this, or further stop damage from heat styling.

But you can attempt to smooth the cuticle, by using deep conditioners that you would leave on up to 5 minutes. I also use a ';leave-in'; cream rinse/conditioner before drying it.

I find that if I let my hair dry in open air, then flat iron it, it's far less brittle feeling than when I blow dry it and then flat iron it. And I have super curly hair Plus I dye it up 4 levels which is very damaging.

Best advice, DON'T wash it so much. Once a week if that. That's what every stylist has told me. Flat ironing it 4 times a month vs. 30 times a month is a big difference in increasing the damage.

Also, get regular trims to get rid of split ends, that always does the trick for me.

I do all the of the above, and my hair is very silky despite all the heat.
ok i am a hairstylist and you do not have to throw away your straightener. you need to use a protectant. i know the regis stores as well as smartstyle uses a product called get it pressed by regis designline. all you have to do is spray it on before you use the flat iron. and get your hair trimmed often. however if you are constantly flat ironing you hair like a coule times a day it is going to get fried. you can also get a smoothing gel to use and that will hlep pull out wave and straighten it. it might not be perfectly straight and smooth but you might like it like that to.
MAKE SURE you use a heat protectant/thermal protector BEFORE using any heat styling tool! Here is one of my favs;

And because your hair is already damaged, you need a product to help repair and restore;

Not sure what kind of flat iron you are using, but that can have a huge impact as well. If you are going to be using a hair iron daily, it is worth the investment of a professional hair straightening iron. I have been using the Karmin Titanium for 4 years and my hair stylist cannot believe how great my hair looks (I style it daily :S )

It's not the best product, to answer your question, it is to THROW AWAY your straightener. As you've already figured it out, it made your hair 'dead'. And you're being honest about it.

DYK the hair industry is a billion dollar business? Their job is to make promises, say anything so we could buy buy buy and for them to sell sell sell so they can build another mansion in a secluded island somewhere and to buy Lamborghini for their collection?

It's called marketing. Even the cheapest shampoo does its job, to clean the pollution. You don't even need conditioner, unless you live in a hard water area (lucky me), if your hair is permed, dyed, straightened. The majority of hair problems here are from girls in their 30s, asking how to care for their damaged hair, what product to make their hair grow, why their hair falls out, and why their shampoo or conditioner don't work. They're also giving advice. Go figure!

A bonus for you for telling it like it is!

My best advice is to trim off often, until the new growth begins.
just stop straightening it! and if you can't, maybe try some natural was to keep your hair straight.

deep condition and use heat protective serum!

also, make sure your hair is completely dry when using the flat iron!

hope it helps. but the best idea would be to take a break from heat styling. i had the same problem and nothing helped me except trimming it.. :(
